A question
Hello,
i've started playing texas hold 'em with friends lately.
now, we came across this situation a few times:
Player 1 has 10$
Player 2 has 10$
Player 3 has 1$
Player 4 has 10$
now, if Player 1 wants to raise 2$, can he do that? or is he limited to 1$ (because of player 3)?
thanks in advance

If a player raises more than another player has, and gets called by both that player and one who can call the bet, then a side pot is created.
In your example, P1 Bets 2, P2 calls, P3 calls and is All in. P4 folds.
Now there are 2 pots, the main pot has $3 in it (one for each of the 3 players involved). The side pot has $2 in it. They are allowed to keep betting into the side pot. Once the hand is over, the 2 players in the side pot resolve it first with the winner taking the side pot. Then that winner's hand is compared to the all in person, and the winner of those two hands wins the main pot.
There can be multiple side pots (happens a lot in tourneys when several people are all in). Just resolved them 1 at a time in the reverse order they were made. Players that are all in should never reveal their cards until all the action is over.
