A Quick Rule Question...

Postby iPoker87 » Wed Oct 15, 2008 9:10 pm GMT

So today, as I was playing, it was all a normal game, normal betting, and then the entire flop was 'done' and the final bidding had been done.

I had been bluffing my way through, and two people called my bluff. I thought I was screwed.

So it was time to show, and I had my 'oh crap' face on, and then this kid points out, "OMG YOU HAVE A STRAIGHT, A2345!!"

At first there was an issue that A2345 isnt even a straight, but it is. We clarified that.

But now one of the persons that lost to me said that it was an 'illegal' move because I didn't call the straight myself.

Its true. I didn't realize I had one until someone pointed it out, but he didn't even know this until someone told him that I didn't know it.

Anyway, so what's the ruling on this? Can someone else call a straight for me? I mean, I never actually called anything. My friend just looked and said 'HE HAS A STRAIGHT' and I said 'YEA! WOAH! Straight'.

So who wins?

At first the issue was of the straight itself and that's why we couldn't get it solved...and things became unclear and stuff...

Also, whatever ruling you give, can you please tell me an OFFICIAL PLACE where I can find the ruling so I can prove it to him?

If cards are face up, the cards talk. Period.

Anyone at the table is allowed to call out what any face up hand is.

As a matter of interest, what was the argument about A2345 not being a straight? Or rather what was the position of whoever said it wasn't?
