Cardrunners

Postby jimmer » Sun Nov 16, 2008 11:53 am GMT

I notice from Kompis's questionaire that a few of you are members of Cardrunners.

Tell me more?

I hadn't even heard of it until i saw Kompis's thread. It's obviously helping your game. What are the best and worst bits of the site? What are the sort of things you are taught? How would you rate it compared to any other poker site you've joined to improve your game? What could the site do better? How often do you spend on there per day/week or month.

Basically, it's my birthday in a few weeks and my wife asked me what I want. This could be an idea. It says it's $27.99 to join? Does that give me access to everything and also, are there any additional hidden costs etc?

Before you pay for this kind of stuff, you should realize what kind of things these sites offer. I'd try the www.deucescracked.com 1 week free trial before paying for cardrunners, personally. They have whitelime, krantz, FWF and a couple other really good names, and if you give them your visa number you can cancel within a week with 0 charges and 0 fuss and download a few videos.

Im sort of in the same boat of Jimmer, i was vaguely aware the existed but thought they were a bit of a waste of money. Would you guys say they have helped your game much? ive got the point where each poker book i read now is just a rewording of all the books ive already read, and so im looking for something else to help me get better :)

Every minute you spend thinking about poker helps your game.

I haven't tried any other site, but I think CR is really good in helping ABC solid game. They recently had few video series that supposed to help anyone beat the micro's (ie up to $50NL I think) haven't really followed it much, but am pretty sure its helpful to anyone who's struggling in those levels.

As for the higher levels, I do think there are a lot of interesting videos. Its always nice to see other ways to play hands and try to think out of the box. Since tons of FT regs are CR members, it also helps to know what new moves they just learnt and find ways to exploit them.

Also, the forum over there as some pretty good discussions.

My normal membership is ending with the year, and I honestly don't know if I would have renewed it. But with their new FT deal am going to get free membership which is always fun.

I have been a cardrunners member for abour 8 months now and its pretty solid. Like others said it really helps with thinggs like micro stakes more then higher stakes. The MTT part of cardrunners I think lacks more then anything. You get a good one about every 3 months or so cause most of the really good pros dont post much MTT stuff anymore.

Alot of the stuff around 200NL to 600NL never seams that intersting. You get a good 1000NL or 2000NL every 3 months or so it seams as well. ALL in all the start up fee of 117$ or whatever it was is abit much but it does provides new ideas to your game.

IIRC, jimmer, you said you don't have Poker Tracker. I would seriously consider getting that (or Holdem Manager) and learn how to track and find leaks in your current game before you spend money trying to learn a more advanced and aggressive style. Whether or not you feel that using a HUD is "fair" or not, just being able to study your own play is a huge step in becoming a better player. And I bet most training site teachers and people on their forums use a lot of the lingo and stats.

I don't belong to any site, so I can't say that it's definitely more important, just a consideration.

Well, I'm not sure.

Having PT (or the like) is really valuable. However if you struggle with very basic post and pre play, sites like CR can really halp a lot.

I think they literally show you how to beat the micro's (haven't tried it, since I joined CR after playing slightly higher and probably never really beat the micro's my self)
Playing the micro's is pretty straight forward ABC solid poker. Its a basic we all need to be able to progress and exhale in this game.

Saying that, its not like everyone who is a CR member are killing whatever levels they are playing in. You still need to understand the concepts they are teaching and be able to implant them as you play.
