rule clarified

Postby blue eyes » Fri Oct 31, 2003 1:28 pm GMT

I searched the how to play sections and I am not clear on something. One, at a home game, if someone folds, are those cards supposed to be revealed to the remaining players? And 2, can someone better explain burnt cards, how many, and when are they exposed. Thanks everyone. I'm about to have a home game and I want the rules to be as accurate as possible

If someone folds, they do not have to show their cards.

Cards are dealt, then the top card is burnt preflop. The flop is dealt and a 2nd card is burnt pre turn. The turn is dealt and a 3rd card is burnt pre river. The burnt cards are never exposed. The purpose of a buring cards is so that a player cannot see the next card to be dealt from the deck. This is especially important at a house game where cards can be more easily bent or marked. Lets say that the 2c has a corner folded over and you have pocket 2s or a flush draw-huge advantage!

thanks Dave B, I thought when I played in a casino, they burnt a card and showed everyone the top card for every deal. Is this different from casino to casino

was that for poker or blackjack? I have never seen a burned card shown in poker unless it was a card dealt face up in error. Then they will show it to everyone so that no one has an unfair advantage.

BTW-it sucks holding pocket 7s and seeing a 7 misdealt face up to another player and burned.

but look on the bright side, at least you won't be expecting it in the community cards,

maybe I did get confused about it, maybe it was blackjack or a wierd dream that got crossed with my memory
