Heads Up Blind Transitions.

I've been looking around the web trying to find a definitive answer to the following question:

What is the procedure for button movement and blind posting following the exit of the third place finisher in a tourney?

I am finding contradicting reports online and articles claiming "The best way to do this is..." - I want to know the right way not the "best".

We have settled on a model provided by Full Tilt for our home game but surely the big tournaments must follow a standard structure?!

However, I would like to know if there is an official ruling available.

I have tried reading k-rug's post titled:

This isn't going to help much because I'm going to caveat it with "this may not be the perfectly correct way to do things............" but all we do in my home league games is work out who was just the BB and if it was one of the remaining two players, make them the SB. If the BB just busted, we just move the BB where it would have gone even if that means the SB is SB twice in a row.

Cheers for the reply - that is what we do at the moment (although things do get a bit cloudy at 3am after a few beers)! - I just find it strange that there seems to be no hard and fast ruling on this!

Halfsugar, you have actually managed to word all three transitions, simply, in one short paragraph!!! This is progress! I've not been able to find it written that clearly anywhere so far!

Me and the guys will use that quote at the home game as a reference when we get to heads up and we all had a few scoops too many to clearly explain where the button should be! Ofcourse I'll let them know were I got it from.
