Heads up.
Been playing a decent amount of heads up lately. Had a few questions for people here.
1) Does anybody know of a good source of strategy information for heads up?
2) Any tactics that work well for people who reraise preflop often?
3) Any general tips anybody has for playing heads up?
Here are my thoughts thus far.
People tend to play too tight preflop - so I have found raising with almost any two to pick up the blinds the vast majority of the time works consistently.
I rarely reraise preflop. I tend to find it better to smooth call and play after the flop against most people. There are exceptions. Hands like QQ, I may put in a 3rd raise. I also tend to like calling to allow me to disguise my hand strength when I call with K9s or 56s or 99 or AA.
I like to check-raise a lot; I do it with draws, made hands, and occasionally on air in the right situation.
I fold the bottom half hands when raised preflop and call with the top half hands.
I value suited cards much more than unsuited cards.
My biggest mistakes involve overplaying semi-strong hands like two-pair and running into a set - still not sure if overplaying is the right word here. Its hard to make a case for playing a small pot with two pair on the flop.
