do we like this bluff?

Postby Ciso_B » Sat Oct 10, 2009 8:56 pm GMT

I read him for a 1 pair ace hand on turn, or maybe he had KQc something like that. That's why i bet turn/move in on river. Also, i could bet less on river, but i would shove my nh's here too, and regardless of what you guys think, i personally think the most pressure u put on people is when they fold not , a sucking value lookin bet gets called here imo.

depends on player, in a vacuum this is pretty good, though i think if you bet smaller you're bet looks more believeable

Yeah, I don't think the shove is necessary unless he has specifically seen you overbet with the top of your range. Otherwise, the point of bluffing is to get by as cheaply as possible, and you probably don't even need to bet full pot for an effective bluff on such a wet board.

Pot is like $70, he has $109 on river, the only bet i think that might have same effect but not cost me the full $109, is like $60, or at minimum $58. I bet a-q down this way too, and its effectively the same thing shoving or potting river, so i guess i prefer just shy of a pot bet.

Needless to say he called with the A-2, but for sure he calls the $35-$45 bet here, cos ppl who c/c for a full stack on river here, (on a deep table too btw), are undoubtedly calling the smaller bet. This guy is obviously a fishy player, and although I read it well imo,I should wait before I make this type of bluff cos at nl 100 you still don't know the guys right away who will stack off sickly light.

Im glad you agreed for once miaow, what i thought in realtime was, he has Ax on turn, cos there's no way he checks after c/r with better than 1 pair usually, so i felt like I would bet turn ,bet river cos that is most indicative of strength. I felt at the time ,if i take the free card he will for sure c/c pretty much most rivers, so although I anticipated he might c/c turn, I felt 1- I had great equity to improve, and 2- unless he bets river himself , then his hand is too vunerable with withstand a big bet, after i have called a c/r on flop , bet turn and still firing.

Just my thoughts, thanks for comments, and lesson for me, have a player tagged before I try this play. This was very early on this session on this table and I had'nt played with him before. Dumb of me.

thing is, with a shove he needs to fold 60% of the time
if u bet 60 he needs to fold 45%

and hes more likely to interpret a shove as bluff compared to smaller bet which looks more like value bet
