I played this so bad....what an idiot
Sitting in my local game last night (The Red Tooth Poker League), which there was only about 8 players there for some reason, top 2 got paid and its down to the last 3.
blinds have now gone up to 400/800, everyone has had their 1500 top up.
Dealer - Villan 1 ( 3000) - From what i gathered this player is very very tight. Very rarely shows down a losing hand when he is in the hand. Folds
SB - Hero ( 9000)
BB - Villan 2 (12000) - Was a monster chip leader at the start. Bets alot of the time. Previously checked the turn after he bet on 3 seperate occasions on the flop, which every time he revealed a monster hand
Dealer folds and im 400 in with K
8
.... i call,
Probably a mistake with the blinds being so high am i right enough in saying its either all in or fold?
Villan 2 makes it a min raise...(i remembered him showing a 10 8 of spades last time he min raised from the BB, so i call.
Flop K
6
9
i check - and he leads out with 2k
now i realise the best thing i could have done was re raise all in... but for some bizarre reason...too many heniken i think i called
Turn 10
Once again i check, and he leads out 2k again
This is when i thought too much and remembered his previous 3 bets where he checked on the turn with a monster, so i was thinking why bet out with a strong hand, so i thought he was either on top pair trying to force me off the hand or on 2 pair
Now i know there was no point whatsoever in me calling. it should have been an all in. If he is sitting with 2 pair then im only giving him a drawing option
River 2
I check again and he instantly says all in
Obviously i thought about it, how high was his flush if he had one, did he miss it completely and try to put me off the hand, the 2 isnt really a scare card. So after being put on the clock i call my last chips away
Villan shows A
Out in 3rd.
Should i maybe have waited so Villan 1 busted out and that would have gave me extra points in our league?
Granted i am still a beginner and certainly not used to live games, but i really shouldnt be playing that bad

well, i dont think the play preflop was too bad. It's three handed and you were in the small blind so I don't mind the call so much. Sure you could have pushed right there and taken the blinds, which probably would have been the better option.
After the flop you need to decide if you would call any sort of bet he might make if you check. If you think you would call it, then you might as well push then and there. Any sort of call post flop will put you in a big hole chip-wise and you will be all in by the river anyways. I would have had a really really hard time folding but if you did you would still be second in stack size. I would probably lay it down. Too many ways you are beat.
After the turn I would have folded for sure.

I don't like calling in the SB. You are best off raising or folding.
When he min raised you remember him having T8s. If you thought a min raise from him was a sign of weakness why not instead of calling it with K8o re-raising him all in?
What is going to happen when you play so timidly is you are going to get schooled.
On the flop if I am going to commit nearly a third of my chips with a top pair hand then I am probably just going to go with it and go all in.

All in or fold on flop no other choice . If you hit the flush on turn or river you have to figure your kicker is too small to take it.
#1 - You will never be a winning poker player if you do not learn how to fold.
#2 - It is impossible to win the tournament in the 3rd level of play.
#3 - Let the other guy make the mistakes.
