Don't say twice, I am thinking of discussing it again for a longer time already, I just haven't gained enough courage so far.

Re: Is Our Happy Forum Community Wasting Away?
Well in my own case I sort of outgrew this site. First of all I play limit hold'em cash games and very very few other posters did. Secondly, I started playing bigger and bigger and there just weren't other posters here who could really comment on 15/30 games online or bigger. I drifted away to 2+2 where there is a larger critical mass so limit hold'em forums actually have quite a few people posting.
As far as an update I play professionally now and also coach poker. I also got married about 6 months ago. I still remember grinding $5 SNGs in the library while looking for tips on this site. I have a lot to be thankful for so I hope I can come around more often and contribute, since without THP I probably wouldn't be where I am today. I would have been one of the millions who deposited $100 and busted my account never to play again. Is anyone still interested in limit hold'em here?

Glad to hear you are a success Phil
I've always loved Limit Holdem for some reason but 15/30 terrifies me. Is that the current level you grind at?

Hey Phil, welcome back.
Yeah, I'm interested in limit hold-'em. Not at limits which would interest you though; I'm just recreational.

Hehe starting this year I've moved up to 30/60 and 50/100 predominately. Last year I probably played about a third 5/10 a third 10/20 and a third 15/30 as well as some live 40/80 in LA and Foxwoods.

I play almost exclusively Limit Hold'em when I play live nowadays, which is rarely, but usually only between $4/$8 and $9/$18 (the weird limit they have here because they have something weird against $10/$20). Glad to hear you're a success. I personally was just never able to get over certain humps before I'd hit a downswing and get scared so I'd move down, have to spend money on something else, or burn out and do something else. Some guys on here like you, Crack, King, etc have the discipline and desire to keep grinding it out day after day and move up through the limits. I guess I never did past a certain point.

Re: Is Our Happy Forum Community Wasting Away?
Well, it is pretty simple.
For me it was a combination of thigs.
1. the fact that there was simply not too much value for me here. almost no one that POSTS here ( you hardly ever post here Kingtje) play as high as I do
and 2. I simply didn't like the place this community was going to.
last time I decided to ban my self from posting (I still lurk here once a week or so) is the below.
I simply felt this community was waay to harsh on starlight, regardless if his decisions were correct or not. the way WE as a community responded to him simply left me feel dirty.
Not to mention, I got my self some harsh words from a recent mod.
I think supa, as rude as he was, was actually a big asset to this community as his respond were usually correct and if taken into account made one think for himself instead of just trying to react what people told him to do.

In my own personal case the above statement is exactly why I left this place.

If Starlight had listened to reason in the first place, he'd have been fine. When he didn't, people got tougher and it still didn't work. The guy was delusional and we were trying to save him from himself because it sounds like his life was shitty enough without him f*cking it up further with his retarded plan. The sentiment was good even if the execution was harsh in the end!
And Mr Darling, I am sure you are referring to me there. If I contributed to you leaving well that was shitty of me and I apologise but I can also understand that if the level here is not high enough then THP is not exactly a good resource for you any more either way. I guess we are good for beginners and nits which you most certainly are not! It's a shame we don't have a decent section with some more experienced players but I guess 2p2 and P5s have the market cornered there and there is nothing to bring them over here.

Re: Is Our Happy Forum Community Wasting Away?
its funny this is the second post Ive run in to since being gone since...summertime?
I took a leave of absence, like odlozilik and other said due to rudeness of other members. It was also summer time so work picked up more.
I like the idea of free rolls or lower buy-in tourneys so that everyone can take part.
Im back, randomly

Half Sugar aka Geno you're one of the most arrogant pompous assholes it has ever been my displeasure to be associated with in all my associations with fellow poker players. If this community is wasting away and losing people it's because of people like you who don't have the common decency to treat others who disagree with you with an iota of respect or civility.
As far as my poker playing goes 2009 was a huge success for the low limits i play and has been for 5 years now. i still play full time and if you don't think my words are true, look me up on OPR, or Poker-Edge and see how they rate me. My poker playing continues and some think quite highly of it to the point that they feel enough about me to risk their own hard earned dollars on my skills. In the meantime why don't you try to learn some common decency and a few manners and maybe people wouldn't leave because they don't wish to deal with you or see how you deal with others.
As a moderator or an administrator or whatever you are you're a disgrace and quite frankly should be barred from assuming any position of authority even if it is only an online community. Maybe one day when you grow up, if ever, you will learn how to treat people with common decency even through the annonymity of the internet........... but from what I've seen from you the last few years I seriously doubt it will ever happen.

Re: Is Our Happy Forum Community Wasting Away?
Jesus wept. If anyone were to go back and review your masterplan for playing as a poker pro they would realise that any advice I dished out was trying to protect you from self-destruction. I don't care if you agree or disagree with that - my intentions have never been anything but good and your ideals have never been anything but delusional.
Show me a 2/4 Limit Pro who makes money and I will show you a liar. Grow up man. Seriously.
