I kinda assume I have the best hand right now, so am looking to maximise the size of the pot. I have two other players to act after me, so i kinda figure I'm better off flat-calling now hoping at least one of the others comes with me as well? Then on the turn I can crank it up a little?
Yes or no and why?

Re: Hitting a straight on on the flop from the Big Blind
rainbow flop and a 3/4 bet i'd let them peel one off.
though you have to really think what villian's range is here and what part of it you want to play against. limp is most likely a small-mid pp and unless they caught a set or catch a miracle turn they're gone.
what's the saying? never bother slowplaying a monster cause you need a V with another really good 2nd best hand and if he has that he's getting it in anyways.
so just raise and hope you're against 88/55/66 and 56 or at least A8 that V wants to go down with...

Re: Hitting a straight on on the flop from the Big Blind
Jamie Gold hit a miracle straight on low unsuited 1-or-2 gap connectors at the final table of his WSOP win. Does anyone remember how he played them? I don't remember if he was just loose calling anything with his monster stack or if he was in a blind and got a cheap call. I think that he busted someone on the hand, though.
Small Blind (SB) is betting the low flop hoping to drive out any overcards that didn't hit this. If you call you've now built a pot big enough to attract anyone with overcards or, best of all worlds for you, an overpair. I agree with Ensano--let them take another card and hope that someone hits. Slam the door, or at least get your money in good, if the next card is coordinated with the current board or puts two of the same suit on the board (which it probably will).

I'm confuse... If you bet and get raised fold, you bet and get called check fold the river which unless it's a 10 then you gotta bust him. In this situation i'm putting him on AK no doubt based on the pre-flop raise and the call on the flop.
