Questions about Vegas
In one week, I will be leaving for Vegas with some friends. This is my first time going and there are still
many questions that I do not have the answers for.
If you can answer any of these questions, I would really appreciate it.
1. How is the Flamingo? (that is where I am staying)
2. What casinos do you like and why?
3. What casinos do you recommend for NL holdem $1/$2
4. What casinos do you recommend for NL holdem freezeout tournaments from $40-$100 buyin
5. What night clubs should I go to
6. What shows do you recommend (if anyone has gone to the peep show...if so, is it worth paying money to seeing Holly Madisons tit's live?
)
7. What are some great places to eat at in Vegas.
8. How is Downtown Vegas?
9. How is the Spearmint Rhino? Is there any other strip clubs you would recommend going to instead?
10. How much money would you take with you for a week. (I know this depends on the person and what they are going to be doing in Vegas....
this is just for fun)
If there is anything else you suggest I do in Vegas...please let me know.

Re: Questions about Vegas
Some quick answers relating to poker playing:
My favourite place for cash games is The Mirage. The range of games is nice, they will open any sort of table if you get the wait list up to 6 players (we managed a 3/6 HORSE game on two nights on my last trip), the staff and atmosphere are also nice which is always a good thing. Also the quality of the players there is not the best.
For tourneys $40-100, you are looking at bad places like Sahara (daily $40), Stratosphere (daily $80), MGM Grand (daily $60 I think) and crapholes like Excalibur, Imperial Palace and New York, New York for cheap tourneys. The very cheapest ones are often at terrible times of day like midnight or 11am. All the places I have mentioned have nasty poker rooms.
For good but still fairly cheap tourneys you cannot beat Caesar's Palace. They have a nightly $125 tourney which starts about 7pm. It has a good structure, is always popular and the poker room is very nice. The Venetian sometimes run cheap(ish) tourneys and their poker room is both vast and very nice. I have never played at the Bellagio so I cannot vouch for them and Wynn is expensive.
Since I last went Aria etc have opened and they might run games - check all the websites.
Downtown Vegas is worth going to for an afternoon if you have never been but one experience of it is enough I think. The Golden Nugget does have a nice poker room and their tourneys are quite good in terms of buy-in and entrants so that might be worth a look one night. Generally though we stay on the strip now that we have all seen Downtown at least once!
The best restaurant in terms of value vs quality is The Grand Lux in the Venetian in my opinion. The food is amazing, the staff are the friendly people in the world and prices are very good (like $15 for a main). Their cocktails are great too.
I always take $1,500 for a week personally but you could get away with $1,000 or so I reckon provided you eat at buffets and don't get too many lap dances.

Well Geno's sincere reply might have been wasted on tomass. He's only posted twice and both were laced with hyperlinks to gambling sites. I sort of suspect he was shilling us.

Well, his name says it all. Just missing an equals sign between the syllables.

It makes me laugh though.lwestatbus wrote:Well Geno's sincere reply might have been wasted on tomass. He's only posted twice and both were laced with hyperlinks to gambling sites. I sort of suspect he was shilling us.
He some how thinks that if he waits a few weeks between writing the post and editing it to add the spam; he somehow won't get caught. Yet the very fact you didn't notice this until today means; no one has looked at this post since 28th Sept - so his spam never got noticed anyway.
I swear it must also take longer for a spammer to put in the links than it takes me to delete them.
Cock.
