1$/2$ average range

Postby Godson » Wed Jun 27, 2012 8:00 pm GMT

What is the starting hand range of the typical 1$/2$ NL player? Every player is different of course, but what is average?

In Vegas, 27o to AA. Elsewhere maybe it will step up as far as 37o to AA.

I've worked my way up to a billion dollers on Zynga Poker. Would I be able to beat most of these people at this level?

Yes. Email Phil Ivey and ask for a game.

I've decided to play in freerole tournaments for now. As it turns out they aren't that much different from Zynga poker players. They do play a bit more tight and fold more often, but for the most part it is the same. It took a few tries to adjust to the average player's fold, call, and raise range, but I think I got it now.

It is actually really exciting, because I got to 27th place out of 1773 players. I was afraid they would all be better than me, but I'm actually not too shabby compared to them all. :-D

As far as $1 to $2 games. I think I will wait until I've beaten a few freerole tournaments and work my way up.

Once you get past the early stages of a freeroll they can play OK but you realise after a while that you are spending a lot of time achieving not very much which is a bit disheartening.

In other words, playing tournament poker.

In spite of that, still my favorite way to play. Looking at the Tuesday night $125 HORSE @ MGM in November for my first night out.

I had no idea that anywhere laid on a HORSE tourney. I'd imagine it's quite entertaining.

$120 I guess. Sounds like it could be fun.

OMG! It took forever, but I have finally won a freeroll! :-D

It is probably strange that I was jumping up and down with excitement over winning $3, but it is more of the win factor than the money. I have moved to the micro tables at 1 penny and 2 penny blinds. I had no idea that there were games that small, but I'm pretty psyched about it. Wooo!

Sweet, congrats. With 150BB at 0.01/0.02 you should be able to run it up without too much problem if you play smart.

Fold Preflop has been good advice. Thank you. I was playing and doing super good. Thought I was the shit and started playing too many hands. Then I was losing so badly it was disgusting. I couldn't understand why I was losing until I stopped and remembered Dave B's post. I tried folding more and it has helped me to winning again. So thank you.

Dave voted for Romney so his advice is questionable at best.
