Winning with bad hands
Hey, Iv been playing holdem for about a month now and Im not bad. If I get a good hand I know how bet and win the pot, but if I get a bad hand I always fold, anyone got any tips for winning with not so great hands?
Also, I play a tourney every week with other beginners, any tips on playing against beginners as bluffing dosn't seem to work
Thanks
Andy

How to win with not so great hand? hrmmmmmmmmmmm
I think if i knew that i'd be rich?
I think maybe if you're going to play hands which are marginal preflop, then you have to be in late position, you preferably want 2 or 3 callers before you so that you've got good pot odds to come in. i.e. you're in late pos. blinds 50/100 3 callers before you makes 450 in the pot already so you have pot odds of 4.5/1.
How to win with marginal hands in early position: don't play them. remember every chip you don't put into the pot is a chip you still have, so you don't call with that 7-2os you win 100 chips.
As for playing against beginnners/loose players, yes bluffing doesn't work, bluffing should only be tried against players who know to fold when they're beat. when playing beginners you pretty much have to have the best hand at showdown. so be selective of what you play.
ermmmmm
I aint a great teacher, but hope that helps some.

bad hands
The truth is that bad hands(a2 offsuit) wins less $$$ than good strong starting hands(AQsuited) over the long haul....
....so with that in mind....the Potsize must be large enough to cover all the times that you will lose with bad starting hands.
So play bad hands in late position with lots of limpers; and you migh be able to win $$$ in the long run...

Who?
As for how to win with bad hands, the answer is that there is no way to consistently do it, u just get lucky in late positions occasionaly like others have said. I would really concentrate your game on playing premium hands such as KQ and marginal hands such as 89s and not worry about the times when u folded 63o and the flop came 663. We all beat ourselves up over it to start with when we know that in truth, outside of the big blind, we would NEVER play those hands. Unless we were Gus Hansen.........but then why would we be posting here? Exactly

hey hey, my name is Andy to. Winning with not great hands... well the way I play with my friends is that I can push them around early in tournaments so I raise preflop with a crappy hand say 9-4o, and I get 2 callers. Flop comes 3-5-8. Check, Check, and then to me where I bet. Usually goes fold, call. Turn is a Q. Check, Another Bet by me, he folds. I show my hand, they see me bluff. Now I play patient and wait for a hand, then I use the exact same betting pattern as before and they call me with jack squat. There not very smart lol
