looking for opinions on online poker

Postby Tulie66 » Thu Oct 28, 2004 4:20 pm GMT

I thought I would ask some fellow Canadians

Hi, Just found this board a few days ago and I have a couple of questions. I have been playing play money tourneys for a few months on Pacific Poker and I seem to be doing ok. I play around five sit and goes in the morning and usually a multitable a day. I have consistently picking out first in about 3 out five sit and goes for the last two months and recently have been making it into money on the multitables. Not really high..my best has been 12th.

Anyhow I have been considering moving into real money and I don't know where to start. I don't have any online accounts or credit cards so I would prefer to use western union or something like that for deposits. I am wondering where is a good site I can trust. I have not enjoyed the play money playing at party poker. I find that people just blind and fold and get into the money and I really don't like that, would rather not put real money into a tourney that people can fake thier way through.

Where do you guys suggest?

I play pacific poker almost daily. I always play the $10 games with 10 people, no limit. The key to online poker, atleast in my opinion is to sit back and for the really really good hands. I like playing the $10 game, because the blinds increase very slowly ... every 15 hands, and it gives u plently of time to wait for those hands. If u play conservatively until u atleast double or triple up, u are almost certain to place in the top three and make some money. As it stand right now i make between 150 and 200 a week playing by this simple strategy.

thanks for the response, it seems like enough people here play at pacific that I can trust em with my cash. I like the sit and goes for play money and I think I will give them a shot and see what happens. Now I just have to wait two weeks or so. I promised myself I wouldnt play real money until I was debt free which happens today. Hooray for me. So next pay I will have some extra money for a small bankroll after I put some new tires on the truck for winter. I have been treating the play money as real for practice and I am finding its all about patience and learning the ability to fold what looks decent but really isnt. My husband went off on me the other day for folding a pair after the flop but there was an obvious flush out there betting hard. He had been playing very tight and was suddenly all over the board. Getting used to taking notes and watching the players. Harder online with no body language but you still get to know the players if you see them long enough.

I play everyday. I play poker stars and full tilt. You can use neteller.com to transfer money directly from your bank account. Its a great way to transfer moneey to and from poker sites. Poker stars is a good site to start because they have .01/ .02 tables. Gets you in the game. From there you can play the 1 dollar tourneys and move on up. Its also a goo dway to learn other games like stud and omaha. Only costs a penny or 2.

Good luck!
