2 Straights... Which player takes pot? or split?
Hi,
I was in a game over the weekend and 2 of us were bet up to the last round to show... We both completed a straight using 4 cards in the middle and one card out of our hand.
They "group" decided that the other person would take the hand because he had a higher hole card (other than the card he used to complete the straight).
I argued that it is a 5 card game (in the end) and his "sixth" card being higher than my "sixth" card does not matter and we should therefore split the pot since we both had the same straight.
Please advise

assuming one of the str8s wasn't higher.... he didn't mention what the str8s were, but my guess is that they were the same (it sounds like it anyway from his post).
if 3,4,5,6 are on the table, and he holds a 7 and his friend holds a 2, he'd take the pot... not a split. if the str8s are identical though (e.g. 34567) with each player holding the 7 and some other card, it doesn't matter what the "other" card is, you both have equal str8s.
hope you didn't lose too much!
