Poker in Africa
I'm going to be living in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania as of the end of march 2005 and was wondering if there are any players there.

Poker in South Africa is pretty big at the moment, a lot of casinos have opened up in the last few years (gambling other than on horses was illegal under apartheid) and most have poker tables and tournaments. The biggest is the All Africa Events that happen a few times a year in Swaziland. Swaziland is this little supposedly independant country within the borders of South Africa where gambling was legal during apartheid there are a few big casinos there the biggest is Piggs Peak where the All Africa events are held, its in Swazi but 99.9% of the people who play are South African. Piggs Peak also have an internet poker room. Internet poker is also popular and our satelite TV service DSTV has a 24 hour poker channel. So you shouldnt have any trouble finding places to play.

Re: Poker in Africa
Unsure if this is a serious question or not, and i was too young to enter them when i lived there, so i'm unsure what they are like, but if i remember correctly there was the Kilimanjaro Casino on the airport road which looked quite big. Also there was one near the clock tower, but that seemed a bit of a dive.
I would have thought your best option would be to visit a hotel and ask them. Most people who want to gamble in Tanzania won't be locals, so hotels are probably your best bet.
