7-Stud ante/betting structure help
I finally got my crew to play some seven-card stud in a little side game at our weekly poker night. Most of them really liked it, since we've been doing weekly hold em tournaments for months and something fresh was nice.
Anyway, we had a problem of organizing a good ante/betting structure. If anybody can help out and suggest a good structure, it would be great. I need it for a SnG style tournament with 8 players, 1500-2000 in chips, and it should last about 3 hours.
Any help is appreciated.

Well, you would usually just do a style similar to that of a limit Hold'em game. That is, you'd have a small bet and a big bet.
- The ante should be about 1/3 of the small bet.
- The bring in can bet either the ante size or the small bet size.
- On fourth street, the minimum bet is the small bet but you can bet or raise the big bet if you like.
- Fifth, sixth, and seventh street all use the big bet.
- I would start it off with 15/30 bets, 5 ante... then go to 30/60 bets, 10 ante, 50/100 bets, 15 ante, 75/150, 25 ante, etc.
By the way, THIS POST IS BLASPHEMOUS!!!!!! HOW DARE YOU MENTION A GAME THAT ISN'T HOLD'EM!!!!!! YOU'RE MAKING ALL THE WSOP HEAD'S BRAINS EXPLODE!!!!!!!!

Hmm, ante of 1/3 small seems a little big from everything I've read. I guess it'd probably be better to do a bigger ante to help push action in a tournament/SnG game.
And yeah, I've been trying to get my crew to play other poker variants ever since we started doing hold em, but most of them were too close-minded to try anything else. Hold em's a great game, but the hold em revolution that has come about has really made it overplayed (it's still my favorite though)...
