fluke at UB yesterday
after UB finally came up yesterday I registered for the 3pm $10 multi table.
When 245 came around I was in two $10 multis... one had 167 players and the other had 35.
The first interesting thing I noted was that they advertised $5 rebuys; for a $10 tournament, this seemed rather strange.
The 167 player tourney went as expected so nothing more about it... however, the 35 player tourney started out with 1/2 blinds. :D
Then it went to 2/5, 5/10, and 20/50. ... strange indeed. Well it got even more strange as after the one hour mark there had been no break and re-buys were still going on. (and BTW, the rebuys were costing $10 even though they advertised $5)
At the 2.5 hour mark... still no break and blinds were still at 20/50 and rebuys were still being allowed...
I had to leave, so I exited. Three hours later, I logged back on... and I was still in the tournament at the final table!!
The rebuys had been stopped, but the blinds were still at 20/50. Several of us had emailed UB about it and we each got the same type answer "we don't have a record of you at this tournament" or "prove that we advertised $5 rebuys" -- which I had a screenshot of this, so it was no problem.
After a few emails back and forth I got a full refund on my rebuys, which helped since I finished in 6th and they only paid 5.
The thing that got me was it was as simple as them opening their own client to see the tournament and tables instead of thinking that everyone was trying to cheat them; several of us had emailed them about the problems.
Very strange indeed...
