Chase, chase chase

Postby shortstacked » Tue Feb 24, 2004 8:56 pm GMT

Boy, in the little I've played online poker I've seen more people pull flushes out of their butts than I ever have in my life. I just had trip A's cracked by a guy on a flush draw, 7/2s caught a Qs on the turn and then a 9s on the river.

VERY NEXT HAND, I have 2 pairs Kings & 10s and it's down to me & the same clown. Well he catches 2 hearts on the turn & the river and bam, my 2 pair are cracked. I've seen straights and flushes chased to the river for other people as well in the hands I don't play. I'd like to see a percentage of flushes that are chased to the turn & river and how many actually are successful. From what I've seen it's higher than games I've played in person.

thats the nature of the low-limit "no foldem holdem" poker. you get lucky bastids to catch hands like this all the time. not only that... but they get lucky once or twice... start thinking they got skills... and then they start raising the hell out of the pot all the time.

play tight... that's really all you can do.

jmho though.

You're right. Problem is I don't have the skill or the bankroll yet to move up to say a 2/4 table. I like the tournaments much better, but PartyJoker has had their tourney tables down for over a day now. I stayed in on that same game until just a minute ago and left up 8 bucks. There aren't many hands to play, but when I play them I have a good chance at winning. Too bad I got cracked on those 2 hands in a row, could have been up about 40. I sat in on this table because even though it was only .50/$1 the average pot size was 14 bucks!

don't expect it to be that much different at the 2/4 tables I think

I'm playing 1/2 at PartyPoker and I see the same kind of morons chasing again and again...average pots being 20-25 bucks so I expect the same problem at the 2/4

just keep in mind : in the long run your tight game will make you win, odds are with you and against them

On-line in the lower limts, most people will play any two suited cards in any position even if there is a pre-flop raise. That's why you see more flushes.

If you are in a NL game, bet them out early, baby. Make someone trying to make their flush PAY for the pleasure. They will learn fast.

Yeah, I'll see a cheap cheap flop with two low suited cards . . . hoping for two of a suit off the flop . . . but if I get where I'm looking at six of a suit (four on the board) I cut loose. . . odds of someone having a higher heart or whatever become too high.

For some reason it feels easier to hit flushes online. Maybe it's cuz you have to stare at those two cards the whole time. Seeing the same color is almost as good as seeing a pair. I know I used to chase flushes a LOT when I started playing onilne. It just looks like holes that need to be filled for straits are so slim a chance, and if I have a pair I am alwas worried about being out kicked. But something about a flush just feels easy, like ANY other card of taht suit will fill my flush, doesn't have to be a 5 or 8 like for a straight.

I know the odds of hitting a flush are lower, but it just feels easier, so people tend to call down more until they learn... it's not easier.

How about this guys,Make player notes on the under flush players and try to get a good match up when you have the nut flush. This is effective especially in N/L games. It is not often you can get this situation but it is very sweet and profitable when it does happen.
