5star chips different thickness?
I just received my order from 5stardeals. I bought a 500 11.5 gram Suited set. 150 white and red, 100 blue, 50 green and black.
Overall the feeling to the chips are good. The case in my opinion is a little cheap. 500 chips weigh alot and the aluminium chip case has a slight looseness to it when you hold the full case from the handle. The lip of the case does not sit tightly together at the handle.
For a home game the set it pretty damn good compared to using the plastic Wal Mart chips.
Also, I noticed the spotted edges and markings (suits) on the chips have some small blemishes. But here is something that I noticed that could throw off people when counting the chips.
I noticed the stack sizes are slightly off with the red compared to the white and blue. The red chips are slightly thinner. You cant tell the difference when measuring up a single red chip to a single blue chip. But once you get a stack of say 20, and stack the 20 red stack up against 20 blue stack you can see that the blues are slightly higher due to their overall thickness is slightly thicker. The red and white are ok but they still are not completely the same thickness. Its so marginal but it kinda bugs. I just dont want people counting stacks when cashing in and end up being slightly off by one chip. Does that make sense?
Has anyone run into this problem with there chip sets from 5stardeal? Im not sure if Im going to return the reds for a new set of reds or not.

I just pulled out my chips and twenty of them stacked evenly. Mine are the 11.5 diamond chips but they seem ok. There are some blemishes on the side lines though but hey as it's been said here before, they are flying out of China as fast as they can make them.

I buy all my chips from 5star (2600 total), except I get the 9g chips. The only difference I see is with the color of the white chips being a different shade, almost like off-white. anyways, thats not important to you...
give them a call or send an email. The playing cards that I got from them (which were included in the package) were all messed up. One deck had 5 Queens, others were marked or bent. I sent them an email and they sent me 4 decks for free no questions asked.
they might be a little more stingy with their chips but give it a shot.
PS: I'd advise going the email route....the lady who answers their phones can be a little touchy (to say the least)

Ok I will do that.
Yea I got 2 decks of cards. Good cards actually. Only small problems that I had with deck of cards were. Two cards in one deck did not have the corners completely cut like the rest of the deck. I ended up just taking a pair of sissors to finish the job. The second deck they ended up taking a black marker to mark the corners and it bleed through to the actual face of the card. But it was very small and not that big of deal since every card in the deck was marked. But since the decks were pre-used by a casino I had expected it.
I am going to try the email route about the chips thickness and not matching the rest of the set. I just ended up taking a stack of 50 reds and measured them up against a stack of 50 whites. The red stack is one chip shorter in height than the white.
Ill let you guys know what happens.
Thanks for the tip.

Must be the suiteds, then. I just got greens, blacks, and reds from 5stardeal, and the ress are a bit thinner than the other two.
The 500 suiteds I'm adding these new chips to also seemed a bit more "finished", than the new ones (all colors). Almost like the 5star chips didn't get a laminating coating or something. I'll still play 'em in my home games, but I'm not sure I'll buy 5star's chips again...
