Sweet Hold 'Em Success

Postby General Sal » Tue Mar 09, 2004 10:58 am GMT

So, I just got done playing a freeroll (yeah even though i made a promise not to play them anymore)... but it's kind of a cool one at UB. 50 of the top 800 players of this one go on to another one with another 800 people. The top 10 get a tec chip valued at $100. So, I can use that to play in another tournament that has players who post up $100 each. With a 150 players, that's a prize pool of 15 grande! So, first playce should get about 5,000.

I placed 30 something out of 800 contestants... they actually stop the tournament once it gets down to the top 50. Good enough for me. We'll see what happens this Sunday....

160 is my best finish in one of those 1500 person monsters. I was Abs from the one today, but there is another at 2:30. Hopefully I'll make it this week sometime.

the problem i find with the freerolls... is they're all done in the middle of the day.

kind of puts those of us who work out of luck.

Hope to see you guys/gals there too. I got a spot for this Sunday's tourney too. It seems like a long road to hoe with 10 TEC's given out with 800+ players but it looks like fun and probably some good tourney practice with a fair number of good players.
LEAR35 is my name at UB. :D

That's the one thing that annoys me about UB. It's nearly impossible to play a free money SNG. There are only 4 tables open with about 50 people trying to get in when one opens. The freerolls are great fun, but they are all in the middle of the night or during the day EST. It's rare to see one past 2:30 EST. I emailed them about this, but I doubt much will come of it. These seem like strange times considering most of their customers are US based.

In all likelihood they are doing all of these tricks on purpose so you will have to pay money to play during normal hours or play SNGs. They don't make much money off no fold'em freerolls. I think most people in these are kids or casual gamers who treat it like a roll of the dice. Not that it matters in the long run I guess because you can't learn anything useful from these free tournaments other than patience.
