I am about to buy my first set of chips
I am going to go the cheap route because its not like I really need these, but I want to get some chips to have for tourney's and for just playing around with while I play online.
I was planning on buying a set of 300 with the aluminum case of the 11.5 gram suited. Discount casion gear has the set for 39.95 and that sounds like a pretty good deal to me. Is there anywhere else I could get a better price?
Are these chips much better than the walmart carousel specials? Those chips are way too light for me to even have fun with.

i had this dilemma not so long ago...
after alot of pain and struggle researching the interweb i came across this deal>> http://www.thesportshq.com/ProductDetai ... LinkID=322
they do 300 sets too i think.
got them today and they seem really good quality... however as i have no experience of any other chips i cant really have an opinion... they seem good to me though so i dont really care.
didnt realise how heavey 500 chips actually was! ha

ummm...
Make sure you read up on http://pokerchipreviews.com
I think this is a very poor decesion... these are pretty far down on the chip list. Plastic feeling, very very slippery, sounds like dropping a monkey wrench. They are better than the old hoyle chips.. but you can do a lot better for the same amound of money.
I would go with these chips rather than the ones you are looking at.
1) Faux Clays http://www.5stardeal.com/deals/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=10-1600
2)10g soprano chips http://www.5stardeal.com/deals/10Expand.asp?ProductCode=10-1051
3)reall clay.. but yes.. you will be paying a lot more than the stuff you are looking at (.35 a chip).. plain circle square molds http://pokerchips.com

well, my set of 500 faux clays have recently left TN heading their way south due to arrive tomorrow. I hope to have my first home tourney friday and/or saturday. Looks like I have some reading to do to figure out the best way to run things. I know the forum on here has some tips, but if anybody knows any other places I should check, please send me a PM.
Thanks,
Arras

Just got my faux clays in today, they really do sound/feel awesome. PokerChipShopping.com got em here in 3 days after I ordered, too ... The colors looked a little dull when I first saw them in the box but once I got them out they look really good.
They sound/feel/stack sooo much better than the regular dice/suits.
