Anyone notice...

Postby ORGrinder » Sat Mar 06, 2004 11:24 am GMT

...that a bunch of these poker sites use the same software, and apparently, the same network.

i decided to download tournamentnetwork and some new thing i saw on tv called pokershootout. so i download and install them... and i can't create my normal username on them.

this is odd, i think to myself, since it's not like the name i use online is common... so i just change the name up a bit and sign up an account.

well... i check out a table just to see what the graphics are like, and on both the tournamentnetwork, pokershootout, AND netpoker24, the same players are at the same table!

the tables are called the same names... the trnys are the same... yet you can't use one screen name on the other program. it doesn't make sense to me.... it knows i have a name regged at another site... and it won't let me re-register that name... but it won't let me sign on with that name either.

what's the deal... is there some master poker network and these places are just buying interface software?

A few poker rooms are like that... EmpirePoker is on the same network as PartyPoker, but they have different tournaments and promotions and all that.

Think of it as different doors going into the same building, I guess.

ya... exactly. i wouldn't mind in the least if i could use my same username on all of them. not having access to $$ is one thing... i understand that. but there's no reason really why i shouldn't be able to log onto one with the same username as on the other.

I too also downloaded that PokerShootout software. There was a player in my freeroll tourney who was mentioning the same thing as you- the same format/players/rooms/etc. I know that a lot of software companies are focusing on just gaming (ie- fortune lounge, who has like 15 sites) but this is getting ridiculous. The tournament i was in froze 3 times and was suspended for 20 minutes. It seems anyone who has the minimal finances to hire these programmers are doing so without paying attention to the integrity of the servers and attention to the details. Its obvious that the online poker sites are going to become so saturated that it will die out completely (except for the big ones PokerStars/Party/etc.) I just don't even fell like playing online anymore.

If these portals allow acces to same tables/tourneys etc...
doesn't that also allow you to log on with multi id's at same time from the same pc?
i.e. would 3 or 4 or 5 or more of YOU be able to play at same table?
kinda dangerous that?

it could be the fact that you are trying to register the same nick from the same ip adress that is the issue. use a proxy server and see if it will let you register your nick then.
