Buying Chips

I have home games almost every friday night and we use the plastic chips... I'm trying to get some money together to buy some nice clay poker chips but don't know the best kind to buy and for the best price. What would be the best kind of chips to buy for a decent price? Also, I usually have about 8 people each week with a 3 dollar entry fee and everyone gets a certain amount of chips. How many should each person get? And when I buy the chips, how many and of what color should I get? Thanks.
