Dealer's Choice

Postby ShoelessJoe » Thu Jul 21, 2005 7:33 pm GMT

Anyone play in a dealer's choice game here?

I was just wondering how you do the blinds/antes. The problem that we have is that if you alternate between BB/SB games such as Omaha and Hold'em and then switch to ante games such as stud, some people at the table pay more cash and thus this strategy could be abused by some players. Even if it isn't abused, it would suck to be sitting to the left of a guy who loved to play Hold'em then accross the table from a few people who loved stud, therefore just because of your random seat assignment, you get screwed and lose a considerable more amount of money to blinds/antes than those to the left of the stud players.

Any advice?

Also, in your dealer's choice games how do you decide the various limits to the games? IE do you determine before hand that the stud games will be 5-10 or whatever or does the dealer make that decision?

Our games we usually just play one orbit per game. I like it better that way because it gives you at least a little while to get into a flow of a certain game.

For stakes, we usually have some set standards before hand... like if we all buy in for $20, then NL games might have two .25 blinds, PL might be .25/.50, and the limit games are .25/.50, or .5/1, or something like that.

Unless we're playing a tournament, or keeping one style of game all night, we'll just go ahead and ante all the time.

Yeah, usually when I play dealer's choice there is an ante for each game, even Hold'em and Omaha, and do away with the blinds.
