When is it too many people over at you house?

Postby Kid Krow » Wed Mar 31, 2004 1:00 pm GMT

My god, had 64 people at my eight tables last night for what I hope to be the first of many weekly tournaments. Chips soon became a bitch when I realized that 5000 chips would not cover every one. with out a little work.

So when is there to many people?

Believe me it was fun to have 64 of my friends and relitives all pulling for the pot of the combanation of a $20, one rebuy at $20 and two addons of $10 each. but after a little while my chips just about ran short if not for a little hard thought about how to use what I had just ran off the boards.

So how many chips is too many?

I'm now under the impression that you can never have enough chips. so how many does ever one suggest? I got a five color set. 1000 Whites, 1000 reds, 1000 blues, 1000 green and 1000 black.

I'm thining I need to quaddruple the chips, and make it 4000 each...
any othe sujestions.

I've seen it asked when people ask this question so I'll save you the trouble... My blind structure is $25 - $50 and is doubled every 15 minutes. It a no limit game and I give $1000 in chips for buyin/rebuy and $500 in chips for addon's 1 and 2.

Any other questions? I got all mine asked for the time being...

I don't think you need more chips, just to change your structure, or chip values.

If greens are 25 and blacks are 100, each player can start off with 8 of each color, for 1000TC each. That would use up 512 green and 512 black chips.

Then you still have enough green and black to cover quite a few re-buys. But I'd suggest making another color 500, say blue, and each rebuy gets one blue chip, and can make change with another player.

This way, you really only need 1000 chips total to handle 50 player: 400 green, 400 black and 200 purple (or blue in this example). Or double the amounts and you can handle 100 players.

You have plenty of chips, no need for more. :)

My experience is that it's barely enough to have 100 chips per player--so you probably need a couple thousand more...but Lord in Heaven 64 people!!! Is that a home or a casino?????

If you've invested enough for now I'd just figure on nice chips for the first 5 tables--make people pony up the $20 bucks in advance where you can, that will guarentee a "primary" table. Then borrow some chips for any additional tables--surely some of your friends would have a couple hundred lying around. You can always use plastic ones--remember those? (And the good ole' days when we thought they were just fine?)

I'm just wondering where in the heck you parked 50 cars. OR how you close you are to having your game busted by them "revenuers."

The real problem is that you have 5000tc out and about, which becomes a problem when you get down to 3 or 4 players. How can a player manage 1000+ chips at their side? Use one color, or get a another in which you can use to "color up". I use Black ($100) and Purple ($500) for this purpose and by the time it gets to a final table all the whites, and most of the reds have been exchanged. this makes it more managable for the players. (an gives you more chips for players to play with at side games)

First of all I made quite a nice side Haul with the five buck cover charge. lol. And Yes I am thinking about getting all ten colors offered by my chip dealer.

Second, As far as Home casino goes, I'm sure what I'm doing is not leagle but it sure is fun.

Third , there is a Mormon church on praticly every street corner here in Salt Lake utah, and as luck would have it. I live right next door to one and they have parking or the yin-yang for any reason. They do after all have a sign that says "over night parking allowed." Wich is a good thing.

Finaly, There was a cop over at my house durring the tournament. And wouldn't you know it, he took second place yeilding $482 plus the door prize but he didn't get the raffle number i call at the end of the night.

All and all I made enough that i'm going to get more chips to "Color up" and to add to my stock so that i don't have to work my already twisted mind too much. I just did the grand total and I walked away with about $840. that the total with the Cover charge and all the money i got selling my Phillie Steak Sandwhiches. Got I had a really goot idea... =)

But there are others that sujested that i tweek my blind structure, and I've take that to heart, and have made the changes i need to to help. in stead of giving 75 chips to start i've mannaged to get the over damage to 41 chips. not too bad. and when i get my colors I will then beable to color up after every 4 blind pushes.

Thanks for the help guys... Take it sleezy, err, i mean easy... oh and if your in the Salt Lake area... Call me at the Krows nest... my card is floating around here... Hopefully the wrong hands don't get ahold of it...

Laters...

I don't think your problem is the amount of chips you have, I think its in the amounts of each color. Instead of having 1000 chips of each color, you should have a lot more of the lower denominations and lot less of the higher deniminations.

I just ordered 4000 chips, and i have less than 200 of the highest denomination ($1000). But I still have enough to give each player in a 50 player game a rebuy and an addon on the $1000, as well as chip up the through the $100 chip. I have $500 chips too though, so it helps.

When you order more chips, I think instead of buying more of all colors or buying new colors, you need to buy more of your lower denominations.

By the way, did you get my Excel sheet? I sent it to your email address but got no reply.

I don't live in a mansion or a casino. I live in a tight three bedroom house in the heart of Salt lake City, How ever i have a garage in the back yard that is a tree car garage.

I basicly converted it in to a room by building the big door into a solid wall of concrete like the rest of it. then I insolated it and put up dry wall. since it was already level I layed down carpet. so that people didn't have to walk all over cold cement. and then I put in a casiers/bar and moved in a bunch of banquite tables which I had covered with Poker felt and put a rail onto.

then I got my self a pretty sweet deal on used leather office chairs. The kind that swivled from a buddy who was going out of buisness.

I got my money from a car accadent settlements and in sead of buying a new car, I bought my self a new room on my house. I've become quite confortable with ridding around in my truck that i didn't need anothe car anyways.

All and all I spent $2100.00 on the room/tables/chairs/chips...

But I live in no mantion. If you build it they will come... =)
