Chip worth?

Postby JoetheDestroyer » Thu Apr 01, 2004 5:10 pm GMT

I'm looking to buy 500 Dynasty chips in the near future, but I don't know how to break up the colors, or how much to make each one worth... I was thinking:

150 whites (at $5)
150 reds (at $10)
100 blues (at $20)
50 black (at $50)
50 green (at $100)

Does this seem sensible to more of you experience chip folk? :lol:

white - $1
red - $5
greens - $25
blacks - $100

blues - $0.5 or $500 maybe?

that's how i play and that's how i've seen online casinos play. i'm not sure about the blue ones, i've seen them used as $1

Typically, casinos use purple as $500.

I'd reccomend using the structure above with blues as $500.

You'll want more $5 chips than $1 chips.

i would use the blues for .50 only if you're doing cash games (i.e. $40 buyin gets your $40 in chips) otherwise, use them as the larger denomination $500.

the point of having big increments in chip value is so that you can have a cleaner pot and easier counting, otherwise all we'd ever need would be white chips.

going from 1, 5, 25, 100, 500 will give you a clean color-up scheme. Using the blues as $10 doesnt really save much in the chip-stack department. here's an example

5w = 1r
5r = 1g
4g = 1black

but, if we use blues as $10 you're getting only 2r = 1b and 5b = 2g

Anyway, pick up more reds, greens, and blacks... and buy about 50-100 blues.
