It's much faster and the only way to deal with really big DB's as the access ones have a size limit.

It will be the only choice with pt3.

There is a decent tutorial on the pt website.

I used it at Uni but these days I'm all about the MySQL baby :)

MS Access is for cataloguing your home video library, over the last few years I’ve spent a lot of time fixing and maintaining enterprise scale legacy systems built on MS Access by short sighted people who thought it would be cheaper.

End rant.

It's a database, so used for storing and querying data.

I use postgresql together with Holdemmanager - something like pokertracker, but free. Someone say it's even better than the pokertracker, but I can't know - I never had it. I actually don't use it much - the HUD annoys me somehow, there's many numbers I don't exactly understand, what they mean. But the database is good.

Basically it is a good tool IT guys pretend take longer time to make stuff with than it actually does, this way they can browse forums and read digg while getting paid.
