Its unethical to chop the pot. B/c there are no deals made at the poker table. No partnerships etc......
Besides that fact i chop the pot when theres a second game to be played
I got this poker calender and it was on one of the days ealier in the year. It explains things everyday its kinda funny.

At the Hard Rock here in Hollywood, Florida....it is the norm.......
In all the $135, $250, and $500 sng's.....if the final three is pretty even in chips....they split it all three ways......
It happens over and over.

"point 3: cowtown, I sympathise that this guy didn't want to chop, but this is his right! All chops have to be agreed by all players involved, you can have 6 people discussing a chop, but if one of them isn't happy, then the deals off. That's all there is to it, no comeback, no-one else should be involved. All players must agree, or no deal. You can decide to chop or not as you see fit, so ok maybe this guy was being a hardass, but at the end of the day, he's allowed."
Like I said, I was annoyed but I didn't grouse about it. One of the guys that was at the table and left in 3rd saw we were done and asked if I won, I said no I came in 2nd and he said oh, what'd you take? I said nothing he got the whole pot. That's when that guy went over to the other and threatened to punch him in the head because apparently they ALL agreed that they would pay out 1-2.
I personally don't care, the guy really wanted that $20 I guess. I was more pointing out in that post on the 3rd game where they split it very nicely and paid me for being a dealer which I thought was really cool. I mean these were fun games at a superbowl party, no need to be mean spirited about it. If he had asked me I would have split it like that for him no question, but then again, that's me.
Ultimately even if that guy was wishy washy about chopping the pot but had said yes to begin with he should have stuck to that, just because he had a good chip lead shouldn't change that.

Hey, if a guy will screw you out of a 20, what would he do to you for a 100 or a 1000? The quickest player to bend the rules is usually the one who wants to win at all costs, all the time.
