No...at any poker site the free chip (practice tables) are very loose and you can not get too good of a feel on how to play the real game. You can learn the software and how it operates and that is a good thing.

The best way to learn online poker is to first study it and then start a money account and play it. You don't have to play high stakes to learn, play and have fun.

If you want to play a lot of money tournaments, Freerolls are pretty good practice. Sure you'll get sucked out on a lot and people won't always play properly, but you can at least get a feel of the tournament structure and such. In Freerolls if you get down pretty low (say 100 out of 1000) the play is pretty good.

Not as good as the real deal obviously, but it is certainly better than play money and an okay way to get a feel for the game (tournaments especially) if you're not comfortable jumping right in.

Plus, at some sites winning a Freeroll can even jumpstart your bankroll :) Doyle's for example has a weekly Freeroll where 1st is $80.
