QQ overpair checkraised on flop

Postby ErinJeff » Sun Mar 02, 2008 3:27 pm GMT

I haven't been at the table long but my notes/stats on villain from another day put him at 50/26/1 over a small sample. My notes say he is a minraise donk preflop a lot.

I make a standard 4BB open from MP with QQ and get checkraised. What do I do on the flop? 3bet how much? Just call?

He was nice enough to tell you he flopped a set.

Fold it cheaply.

How do you arrive at this conclusion?

AJ – It’s an aggressive way to play it, unless he’s seen you c-bet a lot and wanted to know if you really have over PP or just AK, AQ.
Ax:diamond: - Very aggressive semi-bluff, hoping to slow you down, with a slash of fold equity thrown in.
76s – Speculative hand, possible
J7, J6 – Unlikely
77, 66 – To likely :(

With hands like this you need to ask yourself [i]“What if this aggression keeps up? My good Turn/River cards are limited (A, maybe only J). So I’m either ahead now and should raise back or I’m behind and should fold, calling doesn't hold much benefit. So how much are you willing to put in with TPTK? Because that pots growing and the bigger it gets the more he’s going to bet, so best get out cheap or make a standâ€

I think of it this way.

Big pairs are for big pots preflop.

Big hands are for big pots postflop.

He's 55/26 and you want to fold an overpair?

Felting-Actually it doesn't. If only I had followed your advice.

Dollar-wise this is the biggest leak in my game-not giving crappy (by the stats) players the goods when they bet like they have them. These are always tough hands for me post-flop, and they tend to be the ones I lose big time on.

You are all looking at the wrong stat.

He has an AF of 1 these calling stations never raise without a monster.

That could explain it... I don't use PT, so I wouldn't know. All I really know is that if the first number is high, the 2p2 donks are always saying "all in LDO."

Maybe it plays out a little different in NL, but an AF of 1 w/ a 55/26 is pretty aggro.
