Question

Postby texasplayer1234 » Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:46 am GMT

Can anybody tell me how can I win at texas holdem
if almost all my opponents keep calling my bets ?

Its a local game, mostly amateurs play.

I was playing only when I had good hands, but almost never win.

To many people called.

Blinds are 0.5 / 1.0. Let me give you some examples what was happening:

- Everybody calls before flop.
- Flop comes. K T 4 rainbow
- I had a K and 5 and pushed all-in 7,5$.
- 7 out of 7 people called my all-in. On the river I lost because someone cought two pairs.

People play all sorts of hands (7-2, 8-2,...) so you cant never know what someone has. And on the end I loose with pocket Queens, AK,... Am I extremly unlucky or am I playing wrong? Or is it impossible to win if 6 out of 7 players are amateurs?

How do you think I should play with those players? How to handle them?

Over the course of the game, night, week, month or year etc, every player will be dealt the same amount of good hands as they do bad. What you need to do is throw away your bad hands and only play your good hands.

K5 is not a good hand and you should have never of seen the flop. This hand should have been folded pre-flop. Also, when you push all-in you are obviously expecting quite a few callers as the game is ultra-loose. Therefore you need to consider if anyone has AK, KK, KQ, KJ, KT, K9, K8, K7, K6, TT or 44 cause if they do they have you beat. Not only that, but if someone has AQ, AJ, or QJ, they will probably hang around cause of the pot odds.

Basically - is K5 good enough to push all-in on the flop knowing you will get 7 callers? Probably not. Just fold and wait for a better opportunity.

What you need to do is tighten up your starting hands.

Which hands do you suggest me to play?

We often play 3 to 7 players.

Which hands to play if 3 players and if 7 players?

It seems you had only 8.5 BB on the start of the hand you mentioned, do you always play so short, or was it occasionally? You can't make any serious postflop play playing so short (you can just wait for solid hand and just push all in pre-flop), the usual standard is 100 BB (or 40 BB minimum).
