Questions about PartyPoker
Hi,
I've been playing on PokerStars for 4 months and last week I opened a PartyPoker account having heard so many times how loose the game was there.
I played at the 0.5/1 limit tables and indeed...they are very loose and weak. started with $50, I have $360 now, with about 20 hours of play.
I was wondering if anyone knew if the game was still that loose and that "easy" at the 1/2 and 2/4 tables ?
Also, has anyone made a withdrawal at PartyPoker ?
If yes, which system did you use ?
Are cheques a safe way or would you rather withdraw to a Neteller or FirePay account ?
Thanx for the answers.

Yes-most tables are that easy at party poker. For some reason, I 3/6 is either really good or really bad depending on the table. I either dominate or drop in a hurry-I havent figured that one out yet. I have been playing more 5/10-people respect raises more and you run into some really loose players, but usually only 1 or 2 per table. Since you are up to $350-maybe try 5/10 for an hour or so-the standard by in is $250. If you play tight/aggressive, you may be surprised. Taking down $100-200 pots is kind of fun!
I use iGM for withdrawls and deposits. Free and immediate withdrawals from checking and 2-3 day deposits via ACH right to checking.

lol Dave I'm talking about 1/2 and 2/4 (having played only 0.5/1 for 4 months) and u tell me to try 5/10 ?? :))
I mean, my bankroll isnt high enough for such table is it ? let alone my experience.
I know I could win, and win big...but I could lose big at the same time.
I might sound like a chicken, but 5/10 doesnt look like a table where you "give it a try" to my eyes. You must be confident you can dominate them.
You so damn tempt me though. =)
More advices please or I might follow Dave's idea !!

You are making 10/hour at the micro limits-that is HUGE. I learned on the bigger limits (2/4 3/6) so to make the jump wasnt that big of a deal for me. The #1 thing that I learned about poker is that the game is the same no matter the stakes, play solid and you will be successful. This applies to any kind of gambling, blackjack, craps, whatever. The odds dont change, just the payoffs (or punishment!).
So you sit for one session and drop $250 in 2 hours. You are still up $50! I have always been one to take a shot when the opportunity presents itself. So try this-play 2/4 for a week, if you make money, step up to 3/6 for a week, then to 5/10. You have a house's money, why not push the envelope a bit and see.
If you are making $10/hour at lower stakes, you may be leaving money on the table by underestimating yourself.
It may be intimidating to sit at a table w/ Johnny Chen and Phil Ivey, but I sure would love to give it a shot!

ok you got me now
tonight I try the 1/2 (yeah I still wanna stay reasonnable :) )
you're right about the odds being the same, the betting structure being the same etc...my only fears are :
1) having a bad session and so losing twice more than I would have at a lower limit...stupid fear I know...I will never cross the line if I keep thinking that way instead of the long run
2) not having as many fishes/calling stations at those tables than at the 0.5/1...I still have the PokerStars image printed in my mind when I tried the 1/2 tables, the difference was so HUGE it was like everyone was playing premium hands. Now maybe that's completely different at Party Poker.
Thanx for your replies Dave

In my opinion partypoker has a strange notion to quickly get the money that you won. I would recommend that you cash out what you won and play with the $50.00 and come back in a month or two with another $50

Try some NL, ScanX. There are still alot of fish, but the pots are much bigger and you're more likely to get out the players on a draw if you bet properly. Just my humble opinion, but I moved to NL last December and now I can't stand the "miracle" river cards that some people draw out on because it doesn't cost them much to stay in in limit play. It's hard to bet someone out of a pot in 1/2 limit. Again, just my opinon and personal preference but it seems to be netting me decent profits so I'll stick with it.

for an example, just last night I depoisted $45, got it up to $150 in an hour or two. Then all the sudden TERRIBLE cards TERRIBLE bad beats for 3hrs!! Lost everything, even my depoist money. It was my fault for playing when I knew something was up with the cards I was geting. I dont think ' Any Number Generator' could do what that did for hours straight, if anyone cares I'll show you my last 100 hands and you can see for yourself, something wasnt right. My fault again, for not leaving but I was determined to fight what I thought was bad luck.

beerwench : I tried NL for a week but didnt like...especially when people move all in preflop I find it too much gambling. also I dont have the balls to call a big raise on the flop or turn if I dont hold the nuts.
iloveholdem: well yeah it can go wrong. example yesterday I won $100 during the day, then in the evening I sat at 3 tables ($50 on each), after 30 mins I was down $100, still managed to build the stacks back after 1h30 and end up with $20 benefits.
just dont throw it away after having a few bad beats
