Quintessential 5th Anniversay of THP Post
Um... I was looking at joined users, and appartently the first was Carson Cashman on January 17, 2003. Happy Anniversary, THP... wow, five years. About five years ago I met Carson and Adam... April, 2003. I remember them asking what I thought of their site, and I told them the name sucked because of the hyphenate and length, and that they should get a site by another name that links to that google search. I'm surprised they asked my opinion on anything after that. A month later Moneymaker won... and I think online poker really began to explode then. Good thing they didn't change the name of their website.
Funniest part of that day, my parents were asking me where I was going... I told them I was going to meet these two guys from a poker website. They were really worried, because they heard of what happens to people who meet other people from the internet.
Strangest thing... last time I saw Adam, he had cut off about 3 feet of hair. I didn't even realize it until like maybe the second day I saw him.
Craziest moment... waiting for Sid Lambert to come to the Bellagio after he finished up a Mirage tourney. We were waiting for him to bust out... a guy like that nit would probably get run over. Nope. He comes back and announces his first place victory. We order room service... about 80 buffalo wings and a whole other assortment of food. I leave afterwards, and they come back. They slept in the room with all that food. Smelled wonderful.

You were driving from your appartment in Vegas to the Strip to meet them. Imagine how my friends and family were when I announced that I was flying 3,500 miles to meet two random guys for a week in Vegas
I joined this site 5 years ago tomorrow. I stumbled upon it by accident really and they happened to have opened the forum 3 days before even though the site had been around for a while. I offered to mod it and the rest is history.
The best part of the last 5 years has to be when I transferred $110 to Carson on PartyPoker only to find that it was some guy pretending to be Carson. That couple of minutes talking to him on AIM where we realised what had happened was at once the funniest and most mortifying moment of my online poker life

I dont recall why I joined or how I found it.
The coolest thing to come out of the site was meeting Carson and Adam in LV and having them freeroll me in a $300 buy in NL tournament at the Mirage. I mean, who meets some Joe over then net and gives them $300 with no strings attached???
Also, the freerolls/league tournies were awesome. I remember having over half of the chips with 3 remaining in a $12k WSOP freeroll @ Pacific and losing one dominating hand and one coin toss against a total fish and going from total control to out in a flash. I think Gogie went on to beat the fish after being out chipped 10:1.

Jesus. Has it been so long?
Well, I guess that explains why it feels like I've known you guys for years.

Happy anniversary THP! I still haven't met any of you guys in person, but I've really loved my time so far on the forum. It's a great community.

I stumbled onto this site too looking to improve my poker game. I can honestly say I have learned a ton here and continue to do so.

We should rename this sub forum "General Non-Poker Talk and Ghey Jokes"
