Raise river?

Postby ErinJeff » Mon Oct 13, 2008 10:22 pm GMT

No reads or hands on V. I probably should have check raised this flop, but didn't. The river minraise suggests trips, or that I was crushed on the flop by AQ or QT, although these hands should be protecting against the flush. Thoughts on raising this river...

You are so boned. He might have AQ and not put you on a flush draw, as that's a pretty stacked board. Whatever he has, it's almost guaranteed to be better. You basically have a bluff catcher.

While I agree that you are beat a majority of the time, you are getting 4.5:1, and I think this is going to be naked trips at least 18% of the time, I would find it really hard to fold here.

We could argue about the %s, but my thinking in this hand is that this is often trip Ks. On the turn I can't see a higher straight not protecting against the flush draw on the turn by raising, so that left me with either trip Ks or FH at the river. I decided decent enough chance of a FH (KJ being likely) so I just called.

Against a random unknown at NL50 I don't think I could ever fold this to the river minraise.

He showed K8 for the FH. I think he missed a lot of value against an unknown (me).

stop trying to make sense, he doesn't raise the straight because he has the nuts and needs to tarp you

and I don't think he has bare trips enough to call, because sometimes he doesnt raise that
