Hiya,

I think it would be a great idea to get a weekly/twice-weekly (whatever) league game set up on Pokerstars.com asap.

This will bring more members in quickly, much like how it works with HighSeas at the moment.

I guess the only limitation is that it will be Holdem only, though having said this it tends to be the most popular game out there.....

...looking forward to playing in a league tourney soon.

Cheers. :D

P.S. I thought I'd run a poll to see what preferred tourney times would be.....

I imagine this option was added in jest, but I actually am an insomniac and my body clock is totally out of sync :) .

Good luck with the tourneys guys, hope to see you there.

divisions

Postby golddog » Sat Feb 15, 2003 11:15 pm GMT

I don't know if it makes sense in this context, but maybe the league could have an African/European division, an Australian/Asian division, and an American division to allow for time zones.

Of course, you wouldn't have to be physically in that part of the world to play in a particular division--If you're available, jump in. Just trying to think of a way that we could group common times to play.

8) ok, i just joined and played in your first tourney @ pokerstars, com, and i would like to say what a great idea and experience it is. I mean no limit hold em is the best. I would say I am better playing no limit than fixed due to the fact that in fixed no one will fold unless the stakes are in the 1000's. For example if playing fixed i tend to get bored and intenionally lose within the top 100. so today while playing in your tourney i must say it was awsome having the ability to oust out the riff raff before the 1st break. 37th isnt my best finish but it was a hell of a time being able to play a civilized game. plus how boring would it be with out an indian in the game lol.

thank you,

round the clock tournaments

Postby caribyan » Thu Mar 20, 2003 1:55 am GMT

as far as tourneys are concerned, i feel they should be run continuously, so you can play whenever the feeling overcomes you. or just when you have the time. most multi table events take a good portion of time. they should be run this way to give everyone a chance to participate. i think poker stars has the right idea. if you haven't seen their tournament schedule, take a look. it's full to the brim. as we all know, playing on the internet is a global affair. there are completely different time zones all over the world, and as stated in the survey, plenty of insomniacs. tourneys every 1\2 hour are not really out of the question. this, of course, is just one person's opinion. but i do believe it can work.

How do I get myself involved in these weekly poker tournies?

And is anyone located in the NYC area? Trying to round up some peeps for a small tourney type (Limit) game in a couple of weeks.

Please let me know if anyone is interested.

Hey Ace, the weekly tourneys really haven't been too weekly :(

What I do is contact the managers of poker rooms and try to organize a freeroll tournament exclusively for members of this poker forum. Usually they throw out something like $250 or so for us.

I think we may be running a freeroll at ultimatebet.com fairly shortly. I'll keep you posted (I email everyone with freeroll details whenever they are available). You just need to register with the forum and provide an email address and I'll handle the rest.

Hey Brawler,

I had something in the works with UltimateBet.com, but I haven't heard back from them... If I can't line anything up with them soon, we'll have a freeroll set up somewhere else in the near future... I agree, it has been way too long.
