1. Welcome to the forum.
2. Punctuation. It makes it easier for everyone else and increase the likelihood you’ll get a helpful response.
3. Are you saying that the minimum buy-in for the game was £50 and then later it changed to £300 for no reason? This does seem odd. When you say dealer was this an actual member of the casino staff or a player dealing?

Well that’s UK cash games for you. The ones I often see are started by people waiting for tourneys. They’re usually dealers choice and all the players know each other, which can be quite intimating.
The other down side is that they’re not run very formally, the casinos seem to ignore them because they’re populated by regulars.

I think tourneys have improved in the last few years. They’re better organised (TV’s displaying blind changes and prize fund) and more accessible (tutorials, beginners events and tolerance). But cash games are still an old boys club.
This is why members need to ask “where are you?â€

No, definitely not. The min and max buy-in should never change.

It sounds like he’s suggesting it was the minimum buy-in that when up arbitrarily, possibly because a few players had reloaded for another £50 so the stacks were bigger and some random player just decided that they new guy should have a similar amount to most others rather than allowing the original minimum.
