SB ranges vs BB disccusion

Postby MrDarling » Sun Dec 09, 2007 5:47 pm GMT

In a MTT, when its folded to us in the SB what is our range for :

1. compete/fold
2. complete/call
4. complete/raise
3. raise

in the below situations :

A. vs Random 25BB effective stacks
B. vs aggressive same stacks
C. vs Random 40BB stacks

how does ante changes the above ranges?

I think I'm too nittiy in the SB and fold to much or complete/fold to much. I simply hate playing OOP.
I do attack if the BB is weak/tight.

Discus.

When it folds to me in the SB my biggest consideration is the type of player on the BB.

I'm normally more into playing the numbers than the man but who you share the blinds with is a special kind of relationship that I do take a little time to remember and analyse.

I tend to raise any hand I plan to play, and fold the rest, simply because the advantage of picking up the blind, as well as the disadvantage of being OOP, is so high. What range I use is entirely player dependent. I may limp in certain rare situations, but I almost always raise or fold.

mostly depends on what stage of the MTT we are in. early on i probably fold everything except goodish hands

later on when stacks are more shallow and i could use some blinds, its steal time. (depending on type of player in BB of course)

I tend to limp into the SB more often then not, then take a small stab on the flop. People always suspect a steal when sb raises in an unopened pot which is why I raise less from the sb then I used to.

I think when you combine what muck said, with what ciso said and what diamond said, then you got it. Sometimes raise, sometimes call, sometimes fold and take the BB player into consideration at all times.

Complete-raise is cool vs some aggros also, btw.

Sure my answer might suck cause it is just an advanced 'it depends', but I stand by it.
