Should I be looking to accumalate more chips at this stage?

Postby jimmer » Mon Nov 12, 2007 5:53 pm GMT

It's early in a 45 seater sng. There's around 37 players left and I haven't played a hand yet. I don't really have any information on anyone.

I'm unsure whether I should of been more aggressive in the way I handled the situation, especially on the river?

Knowing it's still early in the torny, should I work harder to build the pot, or is that risking too many chips (against a poss flush)?

Bet the turn to make him pay for a flush draw and consider folding to a raise. If he flat calls the turn, you can throw out a blocking bet on the river or check/call a reasonable bet on the river.

Ok.

So there's 390 in the pot at the mo.

I should bet say 200 on the turn and if he flat calls, another ????? (200-300?????) on the river?

(However, the bet on the river is only to stop him betting big if i check?)-Is this right?

Thanks for your quick response btw

Yeah 200-300 on the turn, and 200-300 on the river unless you improve.

The blocking bet IMO is better on the river if he flat calls, because it takes a big hand to raise you, and pretty much any hand raising has you beat (mostly some times a bluff will get ya but not often).

If the guy is some calling station or something else non standard you could play this a few different ways, but against a "normal" player I'd just bet twice safe bets unless I improve.
