side pot confusion :S
hi there. i know there has been too many posts about this but am still confused to am goin to explain it as how it happened to me.
4 players start.
1 - 2000
2 - 1000
3 - 700
4 - 200
pre-flop
player 1 posts small blind (10)
player 2 post big blind (20)
player 3 calls (20)
player 4 goes all-in.
so if this is right there is - 250 in the main pot so far?
player 1 2 and 3 call the all in. so that means there is 850? in the main pot or side pot 1 ?
everyone has called. flop comes out
player 1 checks
player 2 checks
player 3 goes all in (480) so does this mean that this is side pot 1 or 2?
so then players 1 and 2 call the all in so that means there be 1440 in this pot? so we have two pots?
turn comes out.
player 1 checks
player 2 goes all in 250
player 1 calls
so this would be 500 in side pot 2 or 3 ?
so 2,3,4 have went all in
so the pots are 850, 1440, and 500?
player 1 hasnt went all in and everyplayer turns over at the showdown. every player has a winning hand. 4 has pair ov aces with king kicker
3 has pair of aces with 9 kicker
2 has pair ov 10s
1 has high card.
who wins what pot :S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S:S
plz plz help with this as its the only rule a dont get and its soo anoyyin when this situation arises.

player 1 2 and 3 call the all in. so that means there is 850? in the main pot or side pot 1 ? No, 200 is the raise total. Player 2 for eg already has 20 (big blind)in so only needs to put in 180 making total pot 800.
As player 4 is now all in and cannot bet anymore that become the main pot of a total of 800. If player 4 has the best hand this is the only pot he can win. As there are still more chips that can be gambled with by other players, a side pot (side pot 1) is created.
everyone has called. flop comes out
player 1 checks
player 2 checks
player 3 goes all in (480) so does this mean that this is side pot 1 or 2? Yes, Side pot 1
so then players 1 and 2 call the all in so that means there be 1440 in this pot? so we have two pots? Yes, Player 3 can now win either Side pot 1 or Main pot. As there are still chips left between the other two players, a new side pot will be created called Side pot 2. Player 3 cannot win side pot 2 if the two other players decide to bet anything on the turn or river.
turn comes out.
player 1 checks
player 2 goes all in 250
player 1 calls
so this would be 500 in side pot 2 or 3 ? Yes, Side pot 2

Player 1 wins nothing.

Re: side pot confusion :S
it sure does help alot just need to try and get ma head around it if another situation arrises lol.
so what would happen if a player has to go all in but cant call the bet and all the other players have made a bet e.g
player 1 makes a 2000k bet and then 2 and 3 call it that makes 6000k pot but player 4 only has 1000?
player 4 is the last to act do that mean that 4000 goes into the main pot and only player 4 can win and the remaing 2000 goes into side pot 1 and any other bets that are made go into this pot untill another all in is made this makin another side pot? side pot 2. and so on and so forth?

Yep, the player with 1000 can only win 1000 of each other player, creating a main pot and side pot.
