Stars Processing US Cashouts as of 4/28/2011

Postby lwestatbus » Thu Apr 28, 2011 8:12 pm GMT

I was just able to process a cashout from PS. There is a notice on the web site that cashouts are possible. They converted tourny $ to US dollars and added them to my cash balance for the cashout. You can ellect direct bank transfer or paper check (or wire transfer if you have $50k+). I elected check as I wasn't horribly excited about giving access to my bank account.

Here is the special PS FAQ page for US players: http://www.pokerstars.com/usaplayers/faq/

If the check actually arrives (I don't have any reason to be suspicious but I'll believe it for sure when I see it) it will say a LOT about PokerStars' integrity. My guess is they are looking beyond the current situation. There are a number of poker legalization bills making their way through Congress as we speak (or type).

What country are you in? If you're using NeTeller then I suspect it isn't the U.S.

UB and AP file for bankruptcy

No cash for UB and AP players then. I wonder how PS and FTP are getting on? PS still seem to be filling up tourneys well enough but who knows in reality whether they are remaining solvent short-term because if not, they are screwed since this issue is not going to be resolved any time soon.

Larry's speculation is that PS is angling to be the last man standing (or at least a big player still standing) when online poker is legalized and they are able to continue on with their partnership with one of the major brick and mortor casino companies.

I didn't notice the link the first time I responded. I wonder how much of this move is driven by the inability to pay bills and how much is driven by generating an excuse to retain player deposits. Does anyone know how deposits are kept by UB and Absolute? I believe that I heard somewhere that Stars, headquartered on the Isle of Man, has deposits in a separate custodial account not part of the company's operating accounts. But according to the article in the link UB and AP are headquartered in Costa Rica??? (I think) and may not be subject to the same oversight.

This is interesting. What message do you get when you try to connect? They know your address is down under but are they detecting the IP address of your location and blocking you?

Received My Cash Out Today

Postby lwestatbus » Mon May 09, 2011 3:43 pm GMT

I received my cashout from Stars today in the form of a check drawn on "FNB Central Texas" payable in US $ but mailed from Canada. The check is clearly marked "POKERSTARS REFUND CHECK" and the memo has PS letterhead and indicates that it is a cashout of my account.

I'll post if it has any trouble clearing.

I havent even actually attempted to sit down =/
Problem with cashing out is once i get outside america I'm gonna want to play again, and its virtually impossible to get that kind of money online, so unless I think my money is in jeopardy it's probably more profitable for me to leave it online... it's easier that way too =/

Just for interest, cashed out some funds with 888 and Full Tilt a week ago both at the same time, Full Tilt arrived in my account today. 888 did want all the usual ID that I had to send may have caused delay, don't envisage any problem though.
Cheers
