Struggling with first few days online play. Advice?
I started playing cash games nearly a week ago and im beginning to grow disheartened. Im fairly new to poker although I have recently read Super System, played a few months of online play-clay, and poured through all kinds of online articles and instructional videos. First off im playing on betonline.com with micro-stakes .01/.02 and .03/.06 ring games, where flop percentage is always around 50%. Im currently $20 in the hole from my initial deposit after being up about $6 after my first few hours of play.
Originally I made some rookie mistakes like overestimating my top pair and low made flushes. Ive gotten much better the past few days by laying down some good hands. My issue is im losing most of my money on my best hands. Within the past hour ive had pocket aces once, pocket kings twice, and hit two sets with low PP's. My aces I was able to back out on the turn bet (still cost me a few bucks) to what ended up being a K-high straight that villian made on the turn. My kings lost twice to aces on the turn once, and river the 2nd time (I made a great read with board J-2-J and shoved, he had AQ and hit his ace). My sets both lost to gutshot straight draws that villian had to draw to.
I consider myself a tight-aggressive player and im pretty sure thats the requirement for lowstakes NLHE, especially newbies. I dont get cute by trying to make plays on ppl, I rarely steal blinds as there are always limpers behind me ready to call, and I muck all my garbage and play my hands almost entirely by the book, straightforward and aggressive.
Im not sure what to do next other than keep grinding at the microstakes and hope that experience pays off. I hope its the bad beats that are wearing me down and not an actual lack of skill on my part!
Any advice is appreciated, such as recommended sites to play on, etc.
Thanks!

sounds to me that this is where your first problem is.UbuntuFoo wrote:I started playing cash games nearly a week ago............
Poker has massive variance and because you've been dealt pocket Aces or kings a few times in the last hour and not made money on it, it doesn't mean it they don't pay long term.
I suggest you play 100,000 hands and then start reviewing how good or bad you are. While doing this you can post the hands you are unsure about on this forum and let the members tell you how they would have played the hand. You can then go away and put it into practice.
You also need to think about how your table is panning out compared to your style. Yes, tight-aggressive is proabably the right style for someone like you who has only been playing a week, but if the whole table are folding pre-flop or the flops are only every being contested by the small and big blinds then may be you need to think about losening up a bit and playing a different style for a few rounds.
Like anything - it takes time to become good at it. Keep asking questions and posting hands you are unsure about and welcome to the forum.
