stupid question guys

i havent been following this at all because i live in canada and it doesnt really effect me, but im confused about what the deal is.. if its banned how are ppl still playing in the states and all that..? can someone give me a breif rundown.. thanks

It was not banned. The new law prevented US financial institutions from accepting payments from gambling websites.

They did not make it illegal for individuals to gamble. The law remains silent on that w/ politians reluctant to apply new laws to e-commerce.

If you use a third party, then the site isnt breaking the law and bank isnt either.

However, if you live in the state of Washington, it is a felony to gamble online!!!
You can drive to an Indian casino and play Holdem or slots or whatever else they offer and that is alright. But to sit in the comfort of your own home and play for money online is a felony!!
How unbelieveable is that?!?!
