Texas holdem rule question
I have a general texas holdem rule question:
When are other players allowed to see mucked cards? Only when players fold, or are they allowed to see the winner's cards even after everyone else has folded and the winner takes the pot without a showdown?
Thanks

Re: Texas holdem rule question
It depends, but basically:
You can't see mucked cards if there is no showdown. The cards ain't exactly mucked, they are folded.
You can see mucked cards in a tournament if there is a showdown (but if you win the pot with the best hand then ask to see what the guy folded you may receive a punch in the face). However, in Vegas they have a pretty sweet deal where they will show the mucked cards regardless. This is to deter collusion.
Anyone at the table can ask to see the mucked cards not just the player who won the pot
Usually whoever shows aggression (betting) on the turn or river and the hand goes to showdown has to show their cards first.
You get a lot of little angling cunts in the casinos old greeks or whatever who will bet you call and they will wait to see your cards first because they are wankers and most people offer up and turn their cards over because they don't know the rules.
If you are really that bothered then ask the cardroom manager before you start playing. Don't wait till you are at the table then start calling the floor over or you will receive multiple punches in the face.

Re: Texas holdem rule question
So eloquent Craig
If I call a bet, I never show my hand until my oppo has mucked or shown. If he mucks, I almost never ask because I can't be bothered. I can't actually remember a time when I have asked but people do get overly tetchy about it I find. I think my main reason for asking if I do it in future will be to tilt someone with my 'poor etiquette'.
I managed to tilt a guy recently after moving to a new table late in a deep stacked tourney. He had opened three of the first five hands I had seen so I decided on #6 that I'd raise him with any two to keep his ego in check. Sure enough he opened UTG, I asked him for a count etc then slid out a raise. It folded back round to him and he tank folded TT face up saying that "if I'd not given it all the Hollywood, he'd have shoved on me". I told him that he had no clue about how I played and I could have done that with anything. He said I definitely had AA or KK and that I was a terrible player. I turned over my T7o and pulled in the chips while he lost his tiny mind. Two hands later I re-raised AKs over his open, snapped off his shove and he said buh-bye to the tournament holding AJo. Rest assured that if our paths cross again, I will be asking to see his mucked cards if I get the chance
