The face of poker could be changing

Postby jimmer » Thu Apr 22, 2010 6:24 pm GMT

For me at least!

I've never had the time to be able to commit more than a few hours here-or-there to play poker. This meant i never concentrated on tourneys as i couldn't guarantee what i would be doing in 2 or 3 hours time.

Until now!

My wife started a new job this week and it involves working shifts. I knew this, but never actually twigged her shift patterns.

To cut a long story short, i now get time to deadicate (if required) 12 hours + to a game of poker without intruptions!

For the first time ever i can start playing the MTT's.

It may not seem like a big deal to most of you, but my biggest tourney cash was $40'ish on a 180 seater sng.

I despirately want to pick up a few cashes and start adding my name to the MTT results thread.

It's gonna be a long road, but hopefully a fun one.

Lets wait and see

I've only bloody gone and done it!

The wife is working, so I hit the 180 seater sng's.

First attempt and I cash more than i ever have done ever. I got distroyed heads up, so I have to look into that for next time, and I had a few shakey moments (which I'm guessing will happen regularly if I go deep, but apart from that, I played a good solid game.

Nice one dude. The 180-man SnGs are easily the best structured cheap tourneys out there. I don't recall seeing such a cheap buy-in anywhere with 15min blinds. The $20 ones are not a particularly great step up in terms of competition so you might like to give those a punt once you have more of a roll for them.

Yeah, the money issue isn't too much of a problem for me, but I do want to build a bankroll from tourneys just to prove to myself that I can. Therefore I will be staying on the $4.40's for a while (Unless anyone else has an opinion about something else i should be playing)

Lets face it, last night could of been a one off fluke, so I want to cash a few more times at this level before looking at other options.

Still very pleased with myself though.

Apart from the amount of time i can spend at it per week. My life seems to have freed up some time, but I'm stll working a shed load of hours, so we will have to wait and see.

Reminds me of the old Freethrows on Doylesroom. Man those were great when you got in deep. The problem was you only won like $5 for finishing second. It was still a lot of fun.

Gl Jimmer...you can do it. If not you will at least have fun trying.

You are now my idol. Not because of the win (but congrats on that) but because of the breakthrough on MTT time availability. I have also been floundering around in the SnG world because of a lack of time and would love to try some longer MTTs.

Keep us all posted.
