The more I learn, the more I loose!
Hi!
Need advice from some experienced players!
It seems like the more I learn about this game, the more I loose!
When I was a beginner and did not know that mutch about NL Holdem
I had a winning % of allmost 40% - I know, not that good but it worked a little.
Since 3 - 4 month I try to read every book, every article that I can get and
watch poker as often as I can on TV!
Try to add what I learned to my playingstyle (not copying a player) and start
loosing and loosing and ... unntil my winning % droped to 29%
What's wrong - Did anybody made the same experience?
I admit - I'm a little frustrated!!!
Thanks for your answers

Welcome to the forum.
New players usually overplay hands. The aggression can pay off but its more luck than anything, how long have you been playing for?
Poker on TV is more for entertainment then education, becare what lessons you create from it.
What are these percentages? Return on Investment?
Can you quantify how you’re applying the knowledge you’ve learned? I find the best thing to do is post example hands and ask for feedback. At the moment you’re a black box, there’s no way I can really make a diagnosis with this much information.

Hi Muck!
Thanks for the quick response!
I played my 1. game on the 1. of Sep.06!
But till march 09 I only played 40 games.
(I keep track on every Round I play)
Since then I played over 200 games,
most of the time online but also a couple of live-games.
Yeah, you right - but TV is the only possibility to watch
the best of the best - and I strongly belive you can always
learn from them - just wachting and learning!!!
No I only count the amount of games I played, how mutch I've
put in, what I've won or lost, how long did I played, hourly win rate
and a little comment of what had happend!
Ok - let's start with the little things!
The first couple of rounds I just played,
then I bought the first book and read about:
Positon, Hands you should and shouldn't play, Odds!
And then I tryed to use this the next times
(But I already got my own List of Hands depending of Pos.)
Then you get a little deeper into the math, try some trapping,
start playing the same hands in diffrend ways and so on!
That are basic things, I guess you have to do like you've read it
because Position is position and 9 outs to flush are 9 outs to the flush!
(except the fact you thing one of your outs make your opponent a better hand)
When I read or hear things where the author explaines his style of play
(The litlle green book)I look what I like, if it makes sense to me I
try to use this the next times - and if it works for me I add this to my play!
Right now I read Harrington on cash games - there are a lot of things I find
extremly interessting. I like the way he mixes his hands with his actions and
that he uses his watch to take care of it.
I put in some hand-historys as an attachment!
Let me know what you think

I can not find my attachment? Can you???
PS: The percentage I mentioned ist the win/loss ratio of the number
of games I've played (did I won or lost money in the game)
Try it again!

Bare with me I’m a little drunk.
Harrington is good author, the series he wrote about tournaments are 3 of the best books you can buy IMHO. But be careful how much you mix up your play, remember he gives advice sometimes that’s best saved for when you’re facing good observant opponents. Most of the time you can go for the maximum value from a hand even if it gives it away (at low stakes).
TV poker is dangerous because you see people playing a very wide range of cards, hard that most people would be smart to stay away from unless they have the skill to play them post flop.
You do seem to take the game seriously and are heading in the right direction, so keep it up mate.
okay more to follow.
