You sound like a lazy bastard with that comment I'll be honest.

I personally find great feats of human endeavour (such as athletics) to be fascinating and I love Olympic track/road events.

People should get exercise and eat health, I agree with this and I do so when I can. However I don’t see sport or athletics as some great human achievement.

Discovering fire yes. Inventing the wheel yes. Landing on the moon yes.

But running 100m, 105m, 173m however far, fastest than anyone else, no that’s not very impressive to me.

It’s not just an academic thing. I think the guy who lives in a council house surrounded by chavs on the rob or on benefit but who still goes out and works his arse off for long hours at a shit job for shit money just to put food on his families table and a keep a roof over their heads is a far more worthy of a medal than someone who can run quick. In comparison I don’t see this people as inspirational at all.

I don’t mean to sounds confrontational, I just don’t care about sport or athletics.

well Phil usa is regarded as favourites, but they never really lived up to it
Spain is reigning WC, Argentina is reigning OC and well the gap just isnt as big as Americans like to think

if u wanna do a bet of some sort to keep it interesting i'm up for it just let me know what the bet is :)

oh and u bet for usa to win gold and they do
the odds are 1.35 so 1$ on them and if they win u profit 35 cents :p
hence why i took the bet for them not wining coz thats just seems more value to me

Ok I see why I was confused, because I knew they were big favorites. How about this bet...USA wins Gold you ship $5, they lose I ship $15. Isn't that like 1.33 or something?

The USA are favored to win basketball. True they might not be the only ones who know how to play the game great, but their solid performance VS China should show that they will do well in the competition.

As far as this whole boycott the olympics because of the host...poppycock and rubish. The olympics are about bringing together several nations in a peaceful surrounding...of corse you wouldn't know that based on the football (soccer) match I watched between Italy and South Korea....South Korea blatantly punched an Italian player in the face...

oh and there was a good show of olympic spirt when i dunno in which event but a russian and georgian girls hugged despite the shit going on atm

my fav moment so far was Sara Isakovic's olympic record at 200m freestyle (even tho pellegrini set new WR about 3 tenths faster in the heat after)
tho they were only 2 girls to be in 1:55's which makes me very happy
obv :)

Watch italy vs south korea highlights on youtube from world cup 2002, south koreans are very dirty footballers and got away with bloody murder that game.
