Thoughts on Double or Nothings
I've been playing the double or nothing SnGs, the 5 dollar variety and have netted myself at least 250 bucks in the past 1 1/2 months playing just 2-6 a day (if that). I find them to be 'easy' if thats possible to say, don't have to invest a whole bunch of time and effort is kept to a minimum at the lower levels.
I love them, especially the 5 and 10$ turbo and think they are highly profitable. I do feel like it takes out some of the poker skills out of the game as I tend to just wait for my hand or collect blinds once they get high, although I feel like thats a good strategy regardless. When 5/10 people make money, people will tend to hold out, hanging onto their last 600 bucks with blinds at 100/200 when they see someone at 445 in chips, which can get annoying, but it can make you win.
With my success so far, i want to challenge myself more, but to be honest, i, for right now, am in it for the money. If i can cash out 300 bucks or so by the end of summer and put it towards rent or something (college student here) that would be a huge help. So, I am a little torn on moving up levels or just sticking with what works, not sure what I should do, but if it aint broke, not sure if i should fix it or upgrade.
What are you guys thoughts

Re: Thoughts on Double or Nothings
My thoughts...like you hit on briefly are that its not real poker. People might say mtt's can be boring "flipping coins" but this is nothing compared to double or nothign sngs. They strike me as really mundane boring sngs where a monkey who could click fold could play. I don't see value either, cos you only double your buyin and tbh when i play (even tho i lose most of the time lol) , I like to play to win a meaningful amount.
Any poker player with any confidence in his ability would steer clear of these cos there's more money to be made elswhere and although you could double your buyin it wouldn't be worth the time invested to play these.
To conclude, if you wanna win money playin these, you're better off getting a job filing or something , same kind of expertise and you're guaranteed pay whereas them sngs are not guaranteeing you get paid.
