Toledo Ohio/ Southeast Michigan: Post tourneys here!!

Postby JbL » Sun Jul 23, 2006 11:06 am GMT

ITs been hard to find local tournaments in the area, ive had problems locating ads, alot of tourneys only put a board outside the local vfw, but dont advertise, so i hope that anyone that sees any will post in here..

There seem to be alot in the monroe county area at least 2 times a month, and i will try to keep up to date with my postings, but i am looking forward to playing in more outlying areas.

If you are looking for a game, Rogers High School Athletic Booster Club is hosting an event on Sunday, August 20th. My web address should show on this post and link you to the event. Or you can email at HallOfFameRogers @ Aol.com. $35 entry fee.

good turnout, i would say 500 people plus, and cash games on side.

very very good turnout for a sunday.

I myself took some bad beats.
1st session) had flush A hi, got beat on river by a str8 flush, guy hit a 10d, oh well.-results out

2nd session)Pocket Aces, hit a set on flop, put a lady all in, she hit runner-runner, for a nut flush, bitch, :(.

met some cool people tho, overall had a good time 100$ later.
I would definately go again

In all we had 325 registered players (including the 4 or 5 we gave away). This was spread out over 3 sessions. The cash games drew in a few more people, but the exact count was not taken.

Personally I was very pleased with the turnout, though I had to work my A$$ off. Hopefully we will have another round in the Spring. If you did not fill out an entry sheet (most likely you did), let me know so that you will be included on the mailing list.

Glad you had a good time - sorry about the bad luck. I NEVER win with a pocket pair.

yes, i filled out an entry sheet.

i will probably also go to that tourny that was advertised on november 10,11,12. Just my luck i got stuck next to the guy that won THAT tourny last year, on sunday.

i was @ tables 3, in sessions 1, and table 1 in session 2. After my second beat, i went home. Angry, but went home.

If it will make you feel better, the guy that WON paws and Whiskers got knocked out of our tournament 3 times and didn't cash.

I will try to make the P&W tournament.

I have very bad luck in Hold em'. When my friends and I play, we have side games for the losers. Fortunately I make my money there.

For instance, we played a week ago. I am big blind and draw 2 4 off suit. Not a hand to play with, but nobody raises the blind. Flop comes out and it is 2, 7, J. No possible straight, but I am not going to bet with a whopping pair of 2s.

I check. Someone raises it 5, and one other person calls. Not a high pot, but I figure I can call since I know it will not be raised.

The turn is another 2. I slow play partially because if one other person has a 2, I KNOW they have a better hand than me - also to try to draw a better in. Nothing, everyone checks.

The river yields yet ANOTHER 2. 4 of a kind on a hand I wouldn't have played. I bet 5 and they all fold. I win 3 blinds (one my own) and a little blind, and 15 (5 my own)- a whopping total of 15 profit on a 4 of a kind.
