Top pair ...But

Postby Ciso_B » Thu Mar 05, 2009 9:48 pm GMT

Its $75 tournament, its 2nd hour i think*, and the table if they have been watching probably have me pegged as a selectively agressive player. No notes on the villain in the hand, I haven't seen him get involved much.

Ok , so now to the hand. I have AJ.and im gonna open this hand from most positions, so i open ,and am flatted. Then I catch top pair top kicker on 3 spade board, I ahve no spades. I lead out just over half pot, and he pretty much insta raised it tbh,now , I have him on something like Asx , for nut flush draw, 77/88 for a set, 99 or TT with a spade.

With that in mind, what should I do here? Fold ? I decided id call the big rr here, and if he has set gl to him, but any non spade except maybe Qc or something, and I will stack off. I could just shove flop, but why give the guy with Asx an easy call and get there, I might be able to get him pass for 2k on turn, and even if he doesnt , I can get the rest of my money in much stronger fav.

I don't think there's anything wrong with just folding the flop. You have to get bluffed sometimes.

I'm still going to hate getting in on a blank turn.

Yeah just seems like all the hands we beat have great equity against us anyways. I c/c or c/f or b/f that flop constantly.
